compared to most of u guys, the amount of reverb on this **** is kinda tame, but it's still "alot," but appropraite at the time, since the track really revolves around the bass.

they need more isntruments," but for whatever reason, we didn't! maybe it's just that Dre knows how to make a beat sound complete even with a minimal amount of instruments.Īnd all u beatmakers out there that throw mad reverb on u'r ****, listen to this beat. Now that i think back, i'm surprised that i (along with my boys) like this ****, cuz back then, we used to think we knew everything about music, and in most cases would be like "that beat is wack, it's all bass. settin up the theme that the west coast is back!Īdditional Vocals: by Eminem & Knoc'Turnal
then u hear X & Tray seein a Lowrider comin through bouncin on hydraulics, and noticin Dre is the driver. starts out with one of the most recognizable sounds out there, the THX theme. the fall of 99 and spring of 2000 were some of the funnest times of my life, and this album, along with a couple others, was the soundtrack. i had just started spittin, my life revolved around rap. Plus, the albums release had perfect timing, at least for me. all i gotta say is they shut down Times Square and performed right outside there! who the **** has enough pull to stop one of the busiest consumer areas in the world for a concert? obviously Dre! some of my earliest memories of rap are snoop and dre, so to see them get back together was huge. first off the music was great, and i instantly fell in love with it. i don't just listen to em like "that beat is nasty" or "he ripped that ****," but it should give me a fair level of nostalgia.Ĭhronic 2001 definitely fits the bill. Plus, albums that i really consider classics all share the common trait of reminding me of great times in my life.
To me, classic status, most of the time, does not have as much to do with the music as it does with the impact it has on the game. usually i give albums a couple years to gain that status, but something about this album was just crazy. This album came out when i was in 8th grade, and it is one of the very few (maybe even the only) album/s that i consider to be an instant classic. Alright, here's an album that is, for me, one of my biggest influences when it comes to production.
